How To Manually Install SummerBoard for 1.1.2

iPhone & iPod Touch Add comments

Lately the official source for SummerBoard (old) for 1.1.2 has been down for quite a while. When I got my new iPod Touch, I couldn’t install it with the Installer app, and later found out it was because the package download itself was down due to exceeded bandwidth.

So I’ve uploaded the package here for anyone that needs it:

Download: SummerBoard (Old) for 1.1.2  SummerBoard (Old) for 1.1.2 (695.4 KiB, 574 hits)

The install instructions after the jump.

This is the same stuff that the Installer app does. Although, after you install it this way, the Installer app will not see it as an installed package.

If any of the directories mentioned in the “copy into” bits don’t exist, then make them yourself before copying to them.

Copy SummerBoard.framework into /Library/Frameworks/
Copy plistedit into /Library/MobileEnhancer/libexec/

Use a command line (SSH or Term) and enter these two commands:

  • chmod 0755 /Library/MobileEnhancer/libexec/plistedit
  • /Library/MobileEnhancer/libexec/plistedit /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist add /Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework/SummerBoard.dylib

(Yes, the second one is very long, one line only.)

Copy SMBPrefs.app into /Applications/
Copy Themes into /var/root/Library/SummerBoard/

In the command line again, run this:
chmod -R 0755 /Applications/SMBPrefs.app

And that’s it.

What comes up as a pdf? There are no PDF files in it.
